Discovering Me

One of my favorite humans read this and said, "That is SO you."
It is, isn't it?
I totally blurt out overly personal things ALL THE TIME.
For instance, I talk about poop far too often at my full-time desk job.
Far.Too.Often.
My kitchen cabinet person - T - and I have rather personal conversations on the daily.
A lot of them take place whilst both of us are on the toilet.
Face-timing about our days.
About our children.
About our household chores that need doing, but that are still sitting there in all their glory.
Whilst peeing... or pooping.
And I wouldn't have it any other way.

I have no shame in going to the grocery store in my pajamas.
Or my workout clothes that are covered in sweat.
I have no shame in going to a movie alone.
Or to a restaurant alone.
A few years ago, my girl Sara and I went to a movie together.
We ordered popcorn and Coke. (of the diet variety, of course)
Before the movie started, Sara spilled Coke all over his left boob.
I was in the process of wiping said Coke off of her left boob, when a couple came walking up to slide into our row.
It didn't occur to me that I may or may not have appeared to be groping her.
Until they mentioned it.
Then, we laughed.
Shamelessly.

I LOVE to tell people that their hair is amazing.
Or their skin.
Or the yellow color of their jacket.
Or the fact that they look like I feel and so I blurt out that they are my person... even though I've never laid eyes on them prior.

I sincerely love my group of women that I surround myself with.
They are few in numbers, but HUGE in motivation and in truly rooting for each other's rise.
Regardless.
With no asterik.

People who live outside the box are my people.
That is why those in my 12-step group are my people.
These people are real.
With no judgement.
They are raw.
With no sense of being better than anyone else.
They are passionate.
About everything.
And brave.
And soulful.
And lovely.
And divine.
Truly divine.

People who hold the door open for others - those are my people.
People who truly want you to have a good day - those are my people.
People who look in the mirror at what they can improve upon, rather than flipping the camera around to shine on others who they deem as not trustworthy or unfit - those are my people.
People who laugh at their own jokes and it's their laugh, rather than the joke, that makes me burst out laughing to the point of tears - those are my people.
People who are passionate about becoming their best version without stepping on anyone else to get there - those are my people.
People who are dang proud that they got their kids dinner in the form of grilled cheese sandwiches - those are my people.
