Not Our Job

I am working a lot of jobs right now.
Like, a lot of jobs.
One of them is picking up people's food and taking it to them.
Sometimes this causes me stress...
Or it causes me to scratch my head.
Like, Saturday when I picked up one (ONE) chili cheese dog and then drove it 15 miles to the recipient.
The entire way there, I was questioning what the heck I was doing.
Like, am I seriously driving one hot dog with a bit of chili and cheese on it 15 miles??
Yes, yes I was.
When I arrived, the person was literally so dang thankful that I had just brought them their one (UNO) chili cheese dog.
I just smiled.
Walked to my car.
Scolded myself for not being more grateful that I was able to take this one (SINGLE) chili cheese dog to this person.

Waiting until someone is who we want them to be prior to loving them is not a thing.
Choosing who people are and what they are and what they do and when they do it is not our job.
We either love them just the way they are, or we don't.
But, we certainly don't put an asterik on the whole ordeal by telling them that we will love them when they are just who we want them to be.
Either love them or don't.
But don't hold them to a standard that is yours.
