Power of No

Mike has been listening to this book on audible this week.
I have overheard parts of it and have been so intrigued!

This book is really geared toward sales, and is relevant for my business.
I will be listening to it this weekend.
But, there is real power in "no."

1. Saying "NO" means you value your time.
2. Saying "NO" ought to be a brave thing. Don't hesitate. Don't hedge.
3. Saying "NO" means that you know what you want.
4. Saying "NO" means standing your ground.
5. Saying "NO" is sometimes saying "YES" to something better or best.

Funk

There is something to be said about funks.
My entire life, I have run from the feeling of being in a funk.
Being in a funk must mean that I am failing, I would think.
Being in a funk is bad, I would think.
I am always supposed to be happy and grateful and joyful and if I'm not, then I am a bad, ungrateful person who needs more Jesus in my life.
That was really engrained in my mind.

It's not true.
It's a lie.
Being in a funk is not a bad thing.
We are supposed to feel.
All of it.

If we stay there, that can be bad.
If we choose to just live in a lack of joy, that is very bad.
But, to be in a funk is life.
We are mortal.

My mouth is hurting again.
I am up every other or every two nights vomiting all night.
I am not sleeping.
I am still on soft foods.
I feel so tired, and for that reason I haven't been going to the gym for a week.
I need sunlight.

As I stretch and grow and learn in my new business, I am wanting more from people.
I get very impatient with myself and my goals.

So, this morning I wrote my daily goals AGAIN.
I do this each morning.
I turned on a podcast.
And, I reached out to my director.

She said exactly what I was needing for encouragement and direction.
I am re-energized.
My mouth still hurts.
A lot.
I still need to see a doctor about vomiting and not sleeping and having ear pain for weeks.
I still need to go to the gym and at least stand in ultra-violet rays.
I still need to DO THE WORK.
But, I do feel motivated.
More than yesterday.

Funks are not failures.
They are the ability to feel and to figure it out.

Bedtime Stories

Recently, Mike has been reading to me at night.
It's glorious.
He is reading a book currently and asked me if I would like him to read it out loud.
Yes, please.

He is reading a book right now about inspirational women.
There are several stories/testimonials from women in this book and each night he reads one to me.

Men and women are different.
We are supposed to be.
That is why we are supposed to work together, Yo.

So far, the main theme is the importance of balance in areas of our lives we have control over:
Mental, physical, emotional, spiritual.
They are all important.

I, personally, need the gym.
Sunlight.
Coloring or baking or some form of mindless activity.
Praying.
Work.
House work.
Coke Zero.

Haters

Did you know that there are a LOT of haters?
Sometimes I wonder if haters know that they are haters.
Sometimes I wonder if these people who are so cruel and judgmental and awful actually think that they are helpful, or that they have the right to talk to people the way they do.

I am always a bit flabbergasted when people say things to other people and they hide behind the cop-out of, "Well, I'm just being honest."
Allow me to remind you what I remember most from first grade.
Miss Belnap taught us the Golden Rule every single morning.
Right after the Pledge of Allegiance, we would repeat the Golden Rule.
And then she would teach us about the importance of both.
Every single day.

If you don't have something nice to say, shut your effing mouth.
If you don't like the way I look, or the business I run, or the way I talk, or the way I breathe...
Unfriend me. Unfollow me. Don't look at me.

You, my friends who aren't really friends, don't have the ability to lower my value or my worth with your spew of hatred.
That's already in stone.

Stickers

The more we trust Him... the less we care about the stickers others put on us.

Small

Stop making yourself small in order to make others more comfortable.
Oh, it took me a LONG time to learn this one.

You are who you need to be.
Stand tall.
Rise up.
Don't ever shrink in order to make other people feel better about you, or themselves!
